It is clearly possible that we are going to have more than 100 elo improvement
by software but I think that it never happened in the last years and in 2005 the
improvement by software is only near 100 elo.

it is harder to improve when you are better(in extreme case it is impossible
when you play perfect) so it is a reason to expect smaller improvements in the
next year.
On the other hand open source is a reason to expect a bigger improvement.
