Hi -

True enuf, but I like to use the bulletin boards to pose an occasional
question rather than wade through anyone's documentation. Call it a
short-cut. There are enough helpful people that the occasional naysayer
who doesn't want anyone to help, and everyone instead to read the documentation,
no longer is much of an impediment.

Even though I authored the (horrible) version 1, I quickly
renounced it, found Stanback, and got a line of his SCP program
in as GNU Chess version 2.

GNU Chess is not competitive and never has been, neither mine,
Stanback's, nor the current version by Kong-Sian. It is primarily
for pedantic purposes and of course its time is long past.

Since so many users now have copylefted chess source GPL-protected
and in the GNU-world with Linux, it seems that all is as it had
been hoped for (to promulgate a more open atmosphere.)

Others labored at this, with the big laborer, mainly, being Bob Hyatt

I was impressed that the Fruit author release 2.1 in source but of
course in terms of helping others, no one can beat Bob's record.

Stuart
