Hi Martin, >Isn't Bittorrent better for large files ? Not when we have _many_ large files, and when the project time frame is measured in months and years (hopefully). Bittorrent is good to quickly distribute one or several big files from a single source. It is most useful in sharing some new "hot" files (you know what I mean), or a fresh linux distro. Many Bittorrent clients have limitation on number of shared files. eMule has no limitation on number of shared files. Also in our project many people join already with many tablebases, so they can immediately start uploading. BitTorrent needs "tracker", which should be always online. eMule does not need trackers, it uses totally decentralized network, combined of eD2K servers, KAD, and source exchange mechanism. As a result everyone can join and leave, including Vincent or me, and the project will keep going on. No one has to be online all the time. No obligations, which is good because we are all normal people with ordinary home computers and connection. (Recent BitTorrent supports "trackerless" network, but not all BitTorrent clients support it still, and it is still new code unlike eMule which is stable for years). eMule is very well designed to support sharing of big number of files, and for long period of time. This is its advantage. I can find there things that I was sharing a few years ago, and that I don't have now because of HDD crash. This is our goal - to achieve a persistent availability of all 6-men bases. eMule simply fits better to this goal, technically. Best, Kirill
