Well done, Uri ;) But, to answer seriously, the Chessbase GUI does offer an option to leave the engine in control of the endgame. When loading the engine remove the tick next to the option "Use tablebases". This is purely a GUI option, and it won't stop tablebase accesses by engines that use probing, such as Fritz 9.
