	EPD stands for extended position description. Its definition appears in section
16.2 of the PGN standard. You can find it at

	Tablebases are files which contain the theoretical value of endgame positions
which are indexed on them. For example, a KPK tablebase usually tells you, for
any position in which white has a king and a paw and black has a lone king, if
the position is a draw, a win for black (there are not wins for black in this
ending but in others there might be some), or a win for white, and in this last
case it usually includes a distance to mate (how many moves are required to
deliver checkmate) or a distance to conversion (how many moves are required to
promote the pawn). There are some tablebases which contain less information, to
save space.
