It is also unbearably slow, IMHO (at least on my iMac G5).

Yes.  Sad to say, I still find XBoard to be the most usable chess GUI in
Mac OS X (though obviously this depends a lot on the needs of the
user; my own needs are of course widely different from those of
the average Shredder customer).

Shredder works fine in the Scatha GUI, but the functionality is even
more limited than in Shredder's own GUI, and the Scatha GUI is still
not entirely stable.
