Subject: win xp and dual core systems

i have seen AMD athlon dual core systems advertised at various places with win
XP home; my understanding was that win XP home would only recognise one of the 2
cores and win XP Pro was essential for both cores to be operative; is this true?

does the additional cache memory in the X2 4800 as compared to X2 4600 make any
performance difference for computer chess?

does having 2 GB of ram (2 x 1gb)have any advantage in running eng vs eng
matches with ponder on as compared to having only 1 GB (2 x 512 mb)of ram
bearing in mind that the fastest ram is as yet not avaiable in 1 gb modules.

as a corollary is there any difference is chess performance with respect to
ultrafast RAM with the fastest timinigs as opposed to ordinary value RAM?

how much HDD space do all the 5 man EGTB and the avaiable 6 man EGTB occupy

is it possible to run 2 chess programmes with ponder on eg a chessbase programme
vs a lokasoft chess programme on the same computer using a null modem cable
connected to each serial ports on the same computer?

any answers will be appreciated.
