The "line" scores are easy to fix. I had the same problem and found out that the
"max moves" settings is actually a ply value, so leaving it at default should be
ok (600 is 300 moves out of book). Yes, this ply count starts when the engines
are out of book.

Yet I find the chessbase GUI not very stable though. The Shredder Clasic Guis is
the most stable imho.
