Banaszek 1987 >Honorable Mention my apologies Probably the reason why Fritz couldn't find the mate in two is because there isn't a mate in two. Even after 1.Qd8 an obnoxious move like 1...Ng5 there is no mate in one. The only possible mate in 2 I can find from the start position after 1.Qd8 1...Bg7? 2.fxg7 mate - but not forced. 1...Bh6 - no mate in one there, 2.Nxh6+ Nf8 is only a mate in three. 1...Be7 - no mate in one there, 2.Nxe7+ Nf8 is another mate in three. 1...Bd6/Bc5/Bb4/Ba3 no immediate mate there, 2.Ne7+ Nf8 3.Qxf8++ 1...Nxf6 no immediate mate there either, 2.Qxf6+ Kxg8 3.Qf7+ etc. I guess there must be a mistake in the position, or a cook? :-) Iso
