That is clearly a matter of opinion. I disagree completely unless you define
violent as being a contact sport. I think it is far more violent than many
sports I can think of. People seem to think that when Kasparov or other claims
that chess is one of the most violent sports around he is speaking
metaphorically or other, but a quick look at just how quickly sportsmanship or
equanamity deteriorate when a game of chess comes up illustrates how untrue this
thinking is. This sort of thing is not limited to a few poor sports or fanatics,
and is shockingly common. It is VERY violent.
