Hi Uri,
I'm sorry that you are disappointed about bad luck by Fruit. We participate in
Paderborn this year just as a "supportive player" and have no ambitions for
first place (although we would not mind getting it by luck). We are even using
only the tournament-standard-PC which is iirc only a P4 3 GHz and therefore very
slow. In order to compete for the first place we would have needed a deep beta
which is not yet ready. With Rybka participating on 64Bit and Zappa we felt that
we have no real chances (although we've made some progress in software I doubted
it would be enough). Thomas Sauerwald offered to operate Fruit in order to make
an interesting tourney and we agreed. He is certainly not an experienced
operator and therefore a loss on time can happen - I doubt he has ever operated
a program in a game with that many moves. Fruit uses time quite aggressive so in
the end there was probably no time left.
Well it's certainly a pity to loose on time in a drawn positions but that's
live.
