I think that Zappa will be close to the top. Its tournament results are very
convincing.

Hydra really hasn't competed much recently. It won a match against a buggy
version of Shredder and some games against humans. It might be the strongest or
just another strong program. I looked at some of its games and didn't see
anything another prog couldn't do. The owner seems to be obsessed with the idea
of having the strongest chessprogram around, and maybe it is?! , but it hasn't
won any major open computerchess tournament yet , maybe next year?
