Right down to the penetrating stare: http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?475334 I concede there is also a parallel between Rybka and the Greater Lasker (not Ed), the only world champion (excluding Vlad, who knows?) who "deliberately makes bad moves." Of course Rybka does _everything_ deliberately, not just the occasional "bad" move. As a deterministic program, so it must. But the programmatic inducement to occasionally play "bad" moves could be the deliberate work of its talented author. The result is the same as for Tal or Lasker - more wins for Rybka than would otherwise be the case. Imbalance favors the brighter player. The other side just can't grasp it, do they? Rybka is the puissance of Misha with a vinaigrette of Emanuel. When I can score 50% against Rybka for extended periods, I might even take up chess (again?). But I am not holding my breath, enjoying my newly-found patzerdom as I am.
