I think that you misunderstood the overall concept of this game. Actually the open g-file was the key to the win. This is so because Ikarus was "afraid" of any potential threat to his king on h1 and (a) kept the unfortunate king passively hidden at h1 and never used it; (b) missed the opponents a-pawn advancement only due to having to calculate all the 'imaginary' threats on the open g-file. Funny game, quite imbalanced, showing a lot to the authors of Ikarus. On the other hand the author of Rybka is very much aware of the stakes here and he may, just may, wish to keep Rybka's playing style intact. Djordje
