You have a point.A 50 year old chess programmer will not be contributing to this field ,as you say,a young hungry pup would who has some new ideas and wants to make a name for himself. The 50 year old brain simply cannot compete.It get's stuck in a furrow you see. And it's hard to clamber out once your in the groove. The 40 year old's and up prefer the 'Status Quo.The no risk crowd. New ideas are not easley accepted nor for that matter easley assimilated by this age group. And consider,it must be hard to see oneself being left behind with ease.Why it seems only yesterday that t'was I who ruled the roost. But of course the above is typical of all fields of endeavor that require mental ability.It is not only limited to chess programming.
