It is exactly what happened in the last tournament but rybka won the tournament. Maybe quad shredder is enough to compete with rybka32 bit but I doubt if it is enough to compete with rybka64 bits. Shredder 2 cpu seems to be weaker than Rybka 32 bit see http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/ratingall.html There is no big difference between the speed advantage from 32 bit to 64 bit and the speed advantage from 2 cpu shredder to 4 cpu shredder and note also that slightly positional personality of rybka is probably another improvement. I guess that rybka 64 bit slightly positional is better than quad shredder of the commercial version(note that I say nothing about non commercial version that may be better) Uri
