I think Rybka uses some new techniques that the others don't have which gives it
a big boost. Maybe something as revolutionary for chess programming like e.g
null-move was, speculations are welcome.

Additionally it has a good eval and that gives it a great attacking style. It
doesn't wait for things to happend but rather acts itself. E.g. Paderborn round
6 vs Gandalf, 10. g4!.
