Hi,
Since I have an Athlon64 CPU and could conceivably install Windows 64-bit on it,
I'd like the advice of any who use it or know it, on what the risks are.
What I mean essentially, is whether it would affect or prevent any programs from
working, or whether it is truly backward compatible with its 32-bit sibling.
The only concern I could imagine, other than actual software, would be drivers,
but my chipset is by nVidia, as is the video card, and nVidia has been supplying
Windows 64-bit versions of its drivers for a while now.
The completely obvious reason is to run Rybka, but actually, I just saw that
Half-Life 2, a 3D game, is now available in a 64-bit version (free if you
purchased the 32-bit version of course).
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Albert
