If the engine uses bitboards such a big difference has to be expected, as many bitboard operations (most important bsr and bsf) are just 1 instruction on a 64bits machine, but a more complex piece of code on a 32bits one. For instance IIRC there is an even bigger speed gap between 64 bits crafty and the 32 bits one. Ciao Maurizio
