System is rock solid -- issue are drivers - especially those related to :

USB e.g. DGT Board, Wireless USB Netwrok Adparters
Modems
Wirlesss PCI Cards

In some cases you may use devices that are OS independant - example, I use the
D-Link DWL 810 - ethernet to wireless bridge for my wireless internet connection
to my router. This device does not use drivers -- so it work with virtually any
OS.

I would also keep the dual OS boot mode.

Some programs will not install -- CM9K would not install, CM10K will. Chess
Genius classic will not istall.

16 bit programs will not run -- period. Chessbase products appear to work
fine, Arena works fine.

Essentially , make sure you have all the drivers before installing. Norton does
not have a 64 bit version yet - but Avast's 64 bit antivirus software is free
anyway.

Good Luck!

Michael

64 bit chess porgrams:

Crafty
Shredder (only avail with Deeo Shredder, expensive ~ $100).
Rybka
Zappa 1.1

any others?
