Mr Rajlich has pointed out that the currently available versions of Rybka do not
have endgame knowledge programmed into the .exe file. It therefore does not
surprise me that Rybka does not play the Endgame well. The strength of Rybka
lies in it's handling of the middle game. Version 2, currently planned as a
release on Feb. 1st, will have endgame knowledge integrated.

Rybka handles pawns particularly well in the middle game and so I suppose this
middle game knowledge compensates Rybka for it's lack of specific end game
knowledge.

Rybka's handling of the middle game in general is absolutely outstanding.
I used to watch Fruit demolish Fritz 8 in positions where it had emerged from
the opening with a substantial disadvantage. I now watch Rybka give the same
treatment to Fruit!
