Subject: Ruler programs.

I remember Genius 3 being on top for a very long time. Even when Fritz 3 gained
fame, Genius 3 was still the stronger engine, from most tests.

Next came Hiarcs 6, I believe, as the engine which stayed at the top (e.g. of
ssdf) for a long time.

So did Hiarcs 7 take over (7.01, esp. but more well known was 7.32, but not
necesarily stronger than 7.01)

Then there was a brief reign of one of the chessmasters (6or 7?) and there was
Fritz 7, or something like that, and others which were more like "first among
equals".

Then, I think Shredder 7.04 was also a real ruler for a good amount of time, and
even Shredder 9 didn't tottaly surpass it in every aspect of play. So some liked
Shredder 9, but I think that Rybka of now, is the real ruler, and looks like it
might continue to be so for quite some time.

CAN things get much better than Rybka looks set to do? Is chess infinite? I
wouldn't have thought so.
