This is not correct. They clearly have endgame knowledge otherwise rybka could not beat yace or trace in the endgame competition. See the last tournament when Rybka beated Ikarus in the endgame and saved a draw from lost endgame against Shredder. The strength of Rybka is in all stages of the game(the advantage relative to the top programs is in the middle game but being a top program in the endgame is not easy and Rybka already achieved it). Version 2, currently planned as a >release on Feb. 1st, will have endgame knowledge integrated. Version 2 will probably have more endgame knowledge but the version of today still has a lot of endgame knowledge. Enough knowledge to be at similiar level to the top programs. I guess that Rybka1.2 is going to have enough knowledge to be significantly stronger than the top programs also in the endgame. Uri
