Hello, I can use Rybka with Chess Assistant 7.1 in infinite analysis mode without problems. CA 7.1 writes a log file on engine communication: State: Analyzing Response: reState Response: reNPS Variation: ce -3; acd 3; acn 13086; acms 181; pv b1c3 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Variation: ce 5; acd 3; acn 14152; acms 191; pv e4e5 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 12; acd 4; acn 15274; acms 201; pv e4e5 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 0; acd 5; acn 30323; acms 381; pv e4e5 f6d5 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 2; acd 6; acn 6458; acms 601; pv e4e5 f6e4 d2d3 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 14; acd 7; acn 14359; acms 842; pv e4e5 f6d5 b1c3 d5b6 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 8; acd 8; acn 25828; acms 1353; pv e4e5 f6d5 b1c3 d5b6 d1h5 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 10; acd 9; acn 55929; acms 3175; pv e4e5 f6d5 b1c3 d5c3 d2c3 b8c6 g1f3 Response: reVariant Response: reNPS Response: reNPS Variation: ce 13; acd 10; acn 160926; acms 8643; pv e4e5 f6e4 d2d3 e4c5 d3d4 c5a6 g1f3 Response: reVariant Response: reRootMove Response: reNPS Move: e4e5 State: Stopped Response: reState Stopped Response: reData Engine is unloaded However, CA 7.1 automatic analysis mode uses Rybka in another way... and Rybka immediately crashes (itself and CA 7.1). The log file only contains: Start thinking r1bqkb1r/pppp1ppp/8/4n3/4P1n1/2NP4/PPP3PP/R1BQKBNR w KQkq - Time to control: 60000 Moves to control: 60 State: Thinking Response: reState Does this say anything useful to you? Do you think this is a problem of the currently not fully implemented UCI protocol? I hope, in future I can use my favorite engine with my favorite analysis tool - Chess Assistant. BTW, all other UCI engines seem to have no problem with the CA communication. Thanks in advance, Frank Jermann
