Take the position after 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Nc6 It is clear that 3.Qxf7+ is going to be played at small depth by reversing the sign of the evaluation. I suspect that at high depth white may prefer to delay the sacrifice because white may find that black also can force force white to capture the queen some plies later. Uri
