Well I bought Shredder 9 for Linux and am completely satisfied. Deep Shredder 9 for Linux is built for multi processor systems but I only have a single processor which saved me $40. There are a couple of features available in the Windows version that are not in the Linux version. One being a GUI interface to analyzing a game. Stefan will be working on adding this to the Linux version and that is good for me as that is what I mainly use the chess engines / interfaces for...analyzing games. The programs are just too strong for me to play against but I do occasionally play against them just to see how long I last. If I can get to about move 30 before I am completely lost I'm satisfied. Anyway, would appreciate any other comments about commercial chess programs on Linux. Up until Shredder 9's appearance, I had been using Crafty, Yace, and SCID. I will continue to use all of those just to get different opinions in the analysis but I will probably migrate most of my stuff to Shredder and SCID once the analysis feature is added to Shredder. Stefan has done another great job. If you haven't tried it, there is a 30 day freeware version you can download. Regards. Steve
