Thanks for your explanations, Sedat! Since the Ponder=on is the same that 'permanent brain' I have checked already what you suggest. The only significative drop in nods appears when one of engines playing is Deep Shredder. In this case the decrease of nods is substantial for both engines. In all other cases, there is some reduction in the speed, but globally the number of nodes is clearly higher with ponder 'on'. I think that overall setting ponder 'on' or 'off' affects the deepth of calculations for each move but, except for the case of Deep Shredder, the results of my tourneys should have been basically the same. On the other side, although I like Perfect 9, perhaps I will use Perfect 8.32, because I feel that 10 moves is OK for my purposes. Best regards, Tom.
