Hello Tony,

I think it depends a bit on what you want to do with it and the sort of
positions you want to analyze; mate combinations, simple or hard sacrifices or
combinations that look good but you suspect could be refuted, or combinations
that require very accurate play by both sides for e.g. correspondence play. I
suppose this last category is the hardest. In all categories I think it is
probable that results will depend very much on positional knowledge! Something
similar seems to apply for Rybka's best blitz settings for instance! So the
issue has many sides. I don't have a Rybka winfinder yet so cannot compare!

For a short answer, here some Pro Deo 1.1 Tactical settings that I made quite a
while months back. I don't think they are optimal for the task but still can
help in analysis, Nolot positions for instance.

I made many more of these but did not do extensive tests with the tactical
testsets. I could easily make some new version, based on the last Vulcan
{9k17pr} for "normal" analysis, if there is any interest in it. They should not
do badly in tests but actual gameplay seemed louzy. Maybe for one minute games
it is good..
