How do these processors stack up for computer chess? I don't think I've seen any real information since the days of SPEC actually taken for a reasonable benchmark for computer chess (before it was found how cache dependendant it was.) Nearest I can tell (using that SPEC benchmark) the UltraSPARC IV+ processors are about 18-20% slower than an Opteron, MHz for MHz. Anyone who has a more precise analysis is welcomed...
