The 1st position does not seem to be that hard for Shredder 9, who comes to general agreement with the main line you give in minutes. This is on an Athlon 2 GHz (2400); the times could be cut in half by today's fastest computers. Still very interesting position, though. Having the 6-man TB with pawns for this position would probably make a dramatic difference. 8/5p1p/8/6k1/8/6P1/5PP1/7K w - - Engine: Shredder 9 UCI (32 MB) by Stefan Meyer-Kahlen 14/19 0:01 +1.82 1.f3 f5 2.Kg1 Kf6 3.Kf2 Ke6 4.Ke3 Ke5 5.f4+ Kd6 6.g4 (120.761) 70 TB:970 14/19 0:01 +1.83++ 1.Kh2 (135.556) 69 TB:1.128 14/19 0:02 +1.84 1.Kh2 Kg4 2.f3+ Kg5 3.Kg1 f5 4.Kf2 Kf6 5.Ke2 Ke6 6.f4 Kf6 7.Ke3 Ke6 8.Kf3 (171.536) 80 TB:1.268 14/19 0:02 +1.85++ 1.Kg1 (191.550) 82 TB:1.472 14/19 0:02 +1.90 1.Kg1 Kg4 2.Kf1 f6 3.Ke2 h6 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kd3 (223.626) 89 TB:1.710 15/20 0:02 +2.00 1.Kg1 Kg4 2.Kf1 Kg5 3.Ke2 Kf5 4.Ke3 Kg4 (275.472) 96 TB:2.020 16/20 0:03 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 (350.182) 95 TB:2.665 17/22 0:04 +1.97 1.Kg1 Kg4 2.Kf1 f6 3.Ke2 Kf5 (423.580) 96 TB:3.412 18/24 0:05 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Kd3 Kd5 9.Ke2 Kd6 10.Kd2 Ke6 11.Kd3 Kd5 12.Ke2 Kd6 (682.538) 121 TB:4.732 19/23 0:06 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Ke2 Kd6 9.Kd2 Ke6 10.Ke2 (800.835) 123 TB:6.090 20/26 0:07 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Ke2 Kd6 9.Kd2 Ke6 10.Ke2 (956.994) 121 TB:7.753 21/28 0:09 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Kd3 Kd5 9.Ke3 (1.289.964) 131 TB:10.769 22/28 0:11 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 (1.622.273) 145 TB:13.252 23/29 0:13 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Kd3 Kd5 9.Ke3 Ke5 10.Kf2 Ke6 11.Ke2 Kd6 12.Kd2 Ke6 13.Kd3 Kd5 14.Ke3 (2.491.928) 184 TB:17.226 24/30 0:15 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd2 Ke6 8.Kd3 Kd5 9.Ke3 Ke5 10.Kf2 Ke6 11.Ke2 Kd6 12.Kd2 Ke6 13.Kd3 Kd5 14.Ke3 (4.054.942) 258 TB:20.615 25/36 0:20 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd3 (7.024.636) 336 TB:27.002 26/41 0:24 +1.98 1.Kg1 Kf5 2.f3 h5 3.Kf2 Ke5 4.Ke3 f5 5.Kf2 Ke6 6.Ke2 Kd6 7.Kd3 (9.926.058) 411 TB:28.294 27/44 0:48 +1.98 1.Kg1 h5 2.f3 f5 3.Kf2 Kf6 4.Ke2 Ke6 5.Kd2 Kd6 6.Ke3 Ke5 7.Kf2 Ke6 8.Ke2 Kd6 9.Kd3 Kd5 10.Ke3 Ke5 11.Kf2 Ke6 12.Ke2 Kd6 13.Kd3 Kd5 14.Ke3 (33.885.758) 703 TB:29.274 28/45 0:52 +1.98 1.Kg1 h5 2.f3 f5 3.Kf2 Kf6 4.Ke2 Ke6 5.Kd2 Kd6 6.Ke3 Ke5 (37.906.561) 719 TB:29.593 29/46 1:15 +1.98 1.Kg1 h5 2.Kf1 Kf5 3.Ke2 Ke6 4.Ke3 Ke5 5.f3 f5 (61.359.373) 809 TB:30.591 30/48 1:41 +1.73-- 1.Kg1 h5 (87.702.167) 863 TB:31.422 30/48 2:03 +1.73 1.Kg1 h5 2.Kf1 Kf5 3.Ke2 Ke6 4.Ke3 Ke5 5.f3 f5 6.f4+ Kd5 7.Kd3 Kc5 (110.129.975) 890 TB:32.096 30/48 2:27 +1.74++ 1.Kh2 (133.680.813) 905 TB:35.375 30/48 2:28 +1.74 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kg1 h5 3.Kh2 Kg4 4.Kh1 Kf5 5.f3 Kg6 6.Kg1 f5 (134.406.542) 905 TB:35.426 31/48 2:43 +1.73 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kg1 h5 3.Kh2 Kg4 4.Kh1 Kf5 5.f3 Kg6 6.Kg1 f5 7.Kf2 Kf6 (148.292.178) 907 TB:37.685 32/54 4:36 +1.74 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kh1 f5 (263.161.378) 950 TB:50.887 33/57 6:18 +1.88 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kh1 f5 3.Kg1 Kf6 4.Kf1 Ke5 5.Ke1 Kd5 6.Kd1 Kd4 7.Kd2 (362.167.330) 956 TB:77.623 34/58 9:26 +2.10 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kh1 f5 3.Kg1 Kf6 4.Kf1 Ke5 5.Ke1 Kd5 6.Kd1 Kd4 7.Kd2 (549.006.587) 968 TB:107.758 35/61 10:18 +2.10 1.Kh2 f6 2.Kh1 f5 3.Kg1 Kf6 4.Kf1 Ke5 5.Ke1 Kd5 6.Kd1 Kd4 7.Kd2 (588.157.008) 950 TB:134.316 best move: Kh1-h2 time: 10:29.968 min n/s: 946.312 CPU 94.9% n/s(1CPU): 997.167 nodes: 596.132.321 TB: 140.224
