I think they're using Opteron to hedge their bets.  They still have a huge
investment in SPARC and it represents a huge percentage of their revenue stream.

They make nice Opteron boxes - but unless they can leverage their Kealia
acquisition to do something more inventive than their first generation "Galaxy"
servers they're competing with the likes of Dell.  I also think their strategy
of pushing Solaris x86 is doomed to failure... but now we're getting *really*
off-topic... :)
