For example, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look at your list of running processes. You should see the chess engine process taking about 98% of CPU time, constantly. If it drops, or another process is competing with high CPU usage also, that should be fairly obvious. It's a place to start. More tests: Does this happen only with Shredder 9? How about a different engine? What GUI are you using? How about a different GUI? And like the other responder suggested, collect some specific typical examples and post them so we can compare with our computers. Good luck! It sounds frustrating, but I imagine there's a solution forthcoming... WP
