I mean, he won this tournament in jan-04 and jan-05...So from pure chess strength he should not make this result. I just spoke to Berg on phone and he was satisfied since he played well and got a substancial price. Against Karpov 22.h5! is better than BxB. I think he could have drawn it anyway with Q+R vs Q+R and 2 vs 3 pawns on the kingside. But it had no influence on the final standings. He also mentioned Rybka and will probably take up this challenge again. I sent him the Rybka-Nakamura games as a little teaser...;-) By the way, they are well worth looking at. /S
