I think Vasik is americanized Vaclav (pronounced as Vatslav). For me it seems
the same like with all Slav names in America: Vyatcheslav(Fetisov) -> Slava,
Nikolay -> Mike, Yevgeniy(Nalimov) -> Eugene etc.
