DTC, DTM, DTZ, DTZ50 etc are the names of metrics by which the depth of a
position is measured. They stand for 'Depth to ...', and these days, depth is
normally measured in winner's moves (rather than in plies or in anyone else's
moves).
Nalimov's EGTs are DTM, meaning 'Depth to Mate'.
However, it is more convenient - and differently informative - to compute to:
DTC == Depth to Conversion, i.e., to force-change and/or mate
DTZ == Depth to (move-count) Zeroing (move), i.e. to
P-push, force-change and/or mate
DTZ50 == DTZ, except that it is assumed a defender will claim a draw
under a 50-move rule at the earliest opportunity
DTZk == DTZ50 except that '50' is replaced by 'k'
... and there are other metrics I won't go into here.
Yakov Konoval's program is focussed on DTZ I gather. I don't know whether it
will be flexible enough to do DTC and DTM if needed.
Different metrics clearly define different depths for some positions, and
therefore lead to different files which have different MD5sum file-signatures.
That's why WILHELM will give you specific MD5sum file-signatures for (as
available) each combination of endgame, stm and metric.
