I am pretty sure Karl-Heinz's ratings are based on more than just the gauntlet results. He runs other tournaments too, and the rating for Glaurung Mainz is probably based on lots of games in addition to the 100 games in the gauntlet. The rating difference is slightly smaller than I had hoped, but still quite reasonable (especially when considering the small number of games for Glaurung 1.0 beta 1; the margins of error must still be quite big). Based on my own tests, I expect a difference of about 30-40 Elo points between the two versions. Thanks to Karl-Heinz for running the test! Tord
