Hi George,

there should be hope - based on experiences - that talking and discussing facts
with me is always possible, even if there would be negative personal experiences
of which kind ever.

So extending UCI compatibility for Chess960 or even other 10x8 variants still is
of interest for me, but has been blocked by other people. If you have a serious
access to market, you even could make incompatible approaches like Shredder-FEN.
But if you are arguing alone for expanding UCI compatibly you will have no lobby
to support you, I have had to learn.

Thus providing SMIRF also with a UCI engine is wished by some people, but on
the other side, I got no support for opening existing UCI aware GUIs for 10x8
approaches like Capablanca Random Chess. So providing an UCI enabled SMIRF not
at all would give people more chances to experience 10x8 chess, but instead
would help to fix UCI in its restricted layout.

Of course I have thought to make such a version for internal and testing pur-
poses, maybe accessible to some beta testers. I remind you, that there had been
a working Smirf-Mate UCI engine some time ago. But as I have told already, this
time there not much motivation is left.

Reinhard.
