Mr. Smith, The standard answer is that Rebel has a learning feature--at least in Version 10. That is why CM6000 is not really the leader of the pack. It also may be the opening books are better in Rebel. But then--you get what you pay for. Computer vs computer chess is not always valid. Some at the CCC have a need to champion a particular program. I can see that you are not one of them. The real question is "What can I learn from a particular program?" The endgames are getting much better but are far from perfect. Both Rebel 10 and MChessPro 8 have a lot of endgame information. Just wait for CM7000 and watch it clobber the opposition. Or maybe not. In reality, all of the top ten programs are pretty much equal.
