True, but Deep Shredder Mac is 32bit and a 64bit version could be made for the
G5 too (maybe in a future version, but I suspect the demand is not high enough)
which would give similar speed gains than the 64bit PC version.

This woud correlate more with the speed differences I see from other engines.
Single CPU G5 = 0.75x single CPU Opteron is given by the different integer
speeds of the proccessors. Ussing gcc. Intel compiler is another story.
But maybe Shredder is different.
