I think that this was a mistake that hurt shredder sales in the past even if we do not consider the fact that now it is going to be harder for him to go back to the first place. Stefan could probably sell more shredder's in case of bigger increase in playing strength. people who saw little improvement in shredder simply decided not to buy new shredder and were happy with their old version(7.04 or 8) and even part of the people who bought shredder9 skipped shredder8 and bought only shredder7.04 and shredder9.
