Yes, but you make the assumption that Stefan would have used the 64-bit version on the Opteron. Maybe he just decided to go with the 32-bit version to Paderborn anyway because it's more tested and they compared the two 32-bit versions agains each other. Therefore the 10% seems to be fine.
