Because the host prefers traffic. - A mod called Graham once told me to stop
this talking about pseudo or fake identities! I know the scene and names up from
1996. It is sure that we have actually some 60-75% fake names in CCC. Certainly
NOT from different real persons but from some few who like to hold debates among
themselves. - To a certain degree I can understand the need for that. I am one
of those who must face automatical or conditional reactions just on my name
without any relation to what I really write. Of course this is boring but who
cares on the net? There is no such thing like safety or authentic identity. -
But then all these games are nonsense, because in the long run you know exactly
who is writing under what pseudo. You simply know it from the content and
context. - However if commercial interests stand behind such games then it's
manipulation and more so if a counter-movement hides behind faked names, because
that can really hurt your sales.

I think that all these aspects lead to a general prejudice against the internet.
Because fakes are so easy to manage people tend to believe that you can never
believe in the truth of the internet.

Perhaps it might be surprising but I for one know that in real life we all play
games and roles and we are seldom authentic. So - all in all I cant see so many
differences between the two spheres. The content often betrays its speaker. Last
example was when someone, a pseudo, asked how to do this and the answer came
"why do you ask, you are using the same setting..."

We all have something to do with chess and what is chess else than playing a
game? Life isnt that different! :)
