The CSS had the habit to use a fritz standard.

Their assumption 1 seemed to be from certain persons:
  a) no product can be as good as fritz

Deduction from A:
  b) a new program when it is kicking butt and winning everything nearly,
can therefore be *nearly* as good as fritz, but never better.

I remember 1998 when Nimzo1998 was wiping the floor with other programs and won
everything and was clearly the best for a short while. The reviewer in CSS
concluded then it was "nearly as good as the fritz".
