Tiger 11.8 (K6-2 300MHz, 8Mb hash) play e6 from ply depth 3 too, and never
changes its mind. At ply depth 12, in 110s, evaluation is +0.19.
The second best move seems to be Rf6, with an evaluation of -1.50. So e6 is
probably the correct move here...
