Hi there, Not sure what you are referring to as weird and wonderful. I use the DGT with my desktop with Fritz GUI and Arena. Works pretty well. My board is about 6 months old - I have heard of people with older boards who had problems with piece recognition. Mine works absolutely flawlessly. The pieces and board are absolutely beatifully made (that's why I guess all top tournaments are played with the sets). The software generally works well, as long as you check that you're software GUI is accessing the latest DGT board driver (some like Fritz come with a DGT driver, but that is usually an old one - latest driver is Jan 2005). The only bit of setup fun I've had, had been with Chessmaster. Chessmaster does not natively support DGT boards - so you have to download a little piece of "in-between" software from DGT's website that can be a bit finnicky. I've got mine to work, but it is a bit of a mission. Other than that I've only had joy from my board. Definitely worth the money for me. Regards, Jaco
