I truley meant this as a question, not an accusation. I like the fritz 9 gui in general :) I don't think chessbase is evil or deliberately does things to undermine other programs. I am just wondering.....Perhaps they spent most of their time makeing sure fritz 9 runs well with fritz gui and not checking whether other programs run well or have problems. This may, unintentially, lead to a gui bias in favour of fritz 9. No evil intent. Simply a greater investment in Fritz9 As for saying that chessbase differs from arena in that chessbase is not a neutral party, this was indeed an assumption. I might be incorrect. I just assumed that because chessbase makes its money off of fritz9, it might invest more resources into this particular engine and making it work well with fritz gui. Perhaps arena is making money off of a particular engine, i don't know. Or perhaps the authors have a particular commitment to a particular engine? If so, i would love to know. Of course i could be wrong. I am just curious best Joseph
