Is there a way too tune in the expectance of the opponents in computer engines? I mean we human often evaluate our opponents and if we think that this person does think not more than a a couple of moves ahead, we might play in a way to trick him. But these simple trick would not necessarily give such a good play against a strong player. As I have seen you can adjust the engines to play after fixed search depths. I think there also should be an stand alone fixed search depths adjustment for only the opponent in the engine. Let me try to explain: Lets eg put opponents counter-move search depth to 4 and for the gameplay of the computer only time limit. In a way that the computer analyze the counter moves as if the human where not able to think further than 4 ply ahead. Still the computer would probably search 10 moves ahead. But in a way that all countermoves that comes out of an analyses of the situation in the 5 ply would not be taken into account. Is this possible? In this way we could make the computer to play in a aggresive and dangerous way, but only if the human opponent where not able to analyse the game beyond that level fixed level that were given in the first place.
