I think that depends.  For example if all members are allowed to see the
membership list - that could be true.  But if you join my group, I do not permit
any member to see who are the other members are -- and I guarantee you that I
will not send you spam or provide the membership list to anyone.

However I respect your opinion and will not in anyway try to persuade to join my
group.  I am only doing this because I received a number of requests for the pgn
files.  In fact, in just a few short hours, the list is over 20.  This will be a
very efficient means for me to distribute the files to people who are interested
in obtaining them.  it's better than email, since the recipient decides if and
when he is interested in obatining the downloads and he takes the action to
subscibe or unsubscribe as the case may be.
