I know this is a really ugly way, but what should (theoretically) always work is
to hard-code a (shorter) time control in your engine and play a match under the
time control that you want for the other engine. E.g., if you want to play 5'
vs. 60', you hard-code in your engine that the actual time is the time that is
sent by the GUI minus 55', and then you play a match with 60' time control. It
becomes a bit more complicated with increments and / or different stages for the
time control ("tournament time control"), but must be possible, too...
