I find that many of the top engines are happy to sac the exhange for positional considerations. Fritz 9 and Fruit 2.2 come to mind in particular as doing this most often. I've seen it from others such as Rybka also. In one game of my currently running Super Tournament V, Fritz 9 made a double exchange sac to go into a double bisop and pawns versus double rooks and pawns ending! Graham.
